Ohio campus. One patient.

2 neurologist consults = one for seizure, one for movement disorder and One EEG. Cost $2100. EEG showed no seizure despite seizures, which has happened 4 times before. EMU needed.

Result - no DNA panel , just one by one gene testing, he picked 2 genes to test.... it took us 10 hours to get there..... No new brain imaging that we had also asked for before coming, after a 4 year silent ban on brain imaging by researchers here on someone with progressive neurological symptoms. No consult reports from either, both of whom did not have 2 words to say regarding what they were seeing or hearing during the $500-$700 approx.

15 minute appointment where they actually see you and do a brief physical, only when asked did they say a couple of remarks . So no report to give to perspective physicians , the EMU who's cost we were aware of and could afford ourselves that would have been just in time to catch the seizures for the first time to say if this is epilepsy or something else, that the epilepsy doc had said would be avail, with his receptionist saying he wanted her in ASAP, since seizures were close to happening while we were there, was now not avail after they called for international insurance, which we let them know we did not need if it was not available. His receptionist, who said she would call us in one hour didn't bother and left us in the hotel room wondering what happened with no call back. Global patient services had to call to find out for us, and they said that EMU would now only be available at a time when the seizures would be over...distance travelled with serious movement disorder meant nothing.

Went home $5000 less with absolutely nothing to show for it. Cleveland clinic emailed after we got home for $50,000 without the itinerary to show what it was for. To not get stuck again, we asked what it would cover.....whole exome DNA testing to find out what this is ? ....EMU?.....brain imaging?..Surface EMG?..what?

- we got no response - just sign. Forget it. Get it in writing first before going here. Don't assume.

Horrible waste of hope. We had read that this place was one of the best private U.S. clinics. And don't book with 2 docs if you can help it.

They played tag- "he'll do that, not me"...with the other saying "I have to talk to him first".... and neither sees you again or does anything. One wanted previous records where researchers give you nothing. We thought Cleveland clinic would be investigative with self pay and therefore no shut down or interference from researchers.

Instead, they just put previous imaging from 4 years earlier = outdated, and wanted records from elsewhere that show nothing conclusive instead of ordering their own testing. No good. At least not for us. We bought into the hype.

We figured if Obama endorsed it, they must be something else. But really, would they try this with Obama?

Exactly the same thing happened to us! They did not only not found what is going on with my son but they charged us a huge amount of money!

It was the worse experience ever!

Is there a way I can reach you?
